Segment one: Live at five, aired Channel 4, June 20, 1988, 5:00 p.m. Pia Lindstrom interviews Joseph Papp about his involvement in the NAMES Project and the New York City display of the AIDS Memorial Quilt. Papp also discusses the impact of the deaths of the director/choreographers Michael Bennett and Bob Fosse on American theater.
Segment two: Tiempo, aired Channel 7, July 24, 1988, 8:00 a.m. Host Anna Carbonell interviews Joseph Papp about Festival Latino, produced by Papp at the Public Theater. Papp discusses the founding of Festival Latino and the efforts of Cecilia Vega and Oscar Ciccone, the importance of providing an artistic forum for Hispanic artists, the creation of a younger audience for theater, and the relevance of language, accent, and dialect when performing Shakespeare.
