Segment one: Ten o'clock news, aired Channel 5, May 23, 1986, 10:00 p.m. Judy Licht interviews actor George Rose, star of The mystery of Edwin Drood. Includes performance footage from The mystery of Edwin Drood and excerpts from a commercial for The pirates of Penzance.
Segment two: 40th annual Tony awards, aired CBS, Channel 2, June 1, 1986. Excerpts from the broadcast featuring the five awards won by The mystery of Edwin Drood. Acceptance speeches by Rupert Holmes (score, book), Wilford Leach (director), George Rose (actor in a musical), and Joseph Papp (producer/best musical). George Rose and cast perform There you are and Don't quit while you're ahead.
Segment three: VH1, The mystery of Edwin Drood contest video. Commercial for VH1's The mystery of Edwin Drood contest. Contestants are asked to correctly guess VH1's choice for the murderer in The mystery of Edwin Drood.
