- Description
- 1 videodisc (DVD) (25 min.) : sd., col.; 4 3/4 in.
- Summary
- Report on the Broadway season of 1982-1983, during which fifteen Broadway theaters were dark, attendance was down from the previous season, and the critical consensus was that the overall quality of Broadway productions was lower than in previous seasons. The effect of ticket prices, production costs, and critical response on attendence rates is discussed, as is the issue of the minimum hiring requirements of the theatrical unions and subsequent concerns over featherbedding. Includes interview segments with various theatrical notables and performance footage from several Broadway shows. The production of the musical Cats is singled out for its ticket prices and production costs.
