Papp offers his criticism of the Peter Shaffer play Equus and the Bernard Pomerance play The elephant man. He also describes the experience of seeing Sir John Gielgud portray Hamlet on Broadway in 1938 and how Gielgud's performance inspired his desire to see the works of William Shakespeare performed in American English.
There is approximately five minutes of blank space between the introduction to the interview and the interview itself.
