Summary
A portion of an Ed Sullivan show program filmed in Spoleto during the 2nd Festival of Two Worlds. The tape begins in the middle of a recitation from Shakespeare by John Gielgud. Sullivan, appearing in the Piazza del Duomo in Spoleto, introduces Jerome Robbins' Ballets: U.S.A. Dancers Wilma Curley and Jay Norman perform Passage for two from N.Y. export, opus jazz, on stage with sets and costumes. Sullivan speaks with the festival's creator, Gian Carlo Menotti, and a scene from Donizetti's Duke of Alba is performed in the opera house. A commercial for Mercury cars appears after the Ballets: U.S.A. performance.
