- Disc 1 (ca. 48 min.). [Begins abruptly.] Peter Sparling speaks about his current activities, including dancing José Limón's piece Chaconne; Sparling's early work Divining rod; Martha Graham's choreographic shift toward a male protagonist; her work Lucifer, created for Rudolf Nureyev; her work Holy jungle, including the role she created on Sparling; the relationship of Graham's use of the concept of the labyrinth in her work and her personal struggle to deal with the past; her dance Dark meadow, especially the significance of the male figure; images from Nathaniel Hawthorne's novel, The scarlet letter, in Graham's work; Graham's use of fabric, including an anecdote regarding the dancer Peggy Lyman [ends abruptly].
