Summary
The tape begins with an introduction by Liz Thompson, director of Jacob's Pillow, and Ruby Chang, a liaison between Japan and the United States. Thompson comments on the founding of Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, and Chang discusses the evening's program and Japanese dance in general. This introduction lasts approximately eight minutes. The first piece in the program is based on traditional Japanese fan dancing (Butō). The second piece is performed without music.There are brief pauses between the pieces.
