- Summary
- Inside/out is a series of outdoor programs at Jacob's Pillow, in which dancers rehearse and discuss their works with the audience in a casual setting. This tape contains excerpts from two Inside/out programs, both featuring Martha Partridge and Marta Renzi, artists in residence at Jacob's Pillow. Partridge rehearses two works in progress, one for five dancers titled 5's (rehearsed here as a duet by Partridge and Nathan [Hurlin]) with an incomplete score by David Friedman, and a duet titled Eskimo (rehearsed here as a solo by Partridge). Partridge discusses the basic structure of the work titled 5s, her use of music and her collaboration with composer David Friedman. Renzi and three dancers from her company rehearse excerpts from What practice makes, with music by Beethoven, and For the love of the working, with music by Bach. The audience asks questions, and on some parts of the tape the camera shows the audience rather than the stage.
