- Summary
- Inside/out is a series of outdoor programs in which artists perform and discuss their choreography with audiences in an informal setting. In this program, Liz Lerman shows excerpts from a finished work, Nine short dances about the defense budget and other military matters, and a work in progress, Atomic priests. Lerman speaks about her work, particularly her interest in the use of symbols for communication. Three excerpts from Nine short dances are performed: How many bucks in a billion, sung by Don Zuckerman and two solos danced and spoken by Lerman. Lerman discusses the development of Atomic priests, the work she and the dancers have done during their time at Jacob's Pillow, and the ideas addressed in the piece. A number of excerpts from the work, some unfinished, are performed by Lerman and the dancers, and Lerman takes questions and comments from the audience at the end of the program.
