- Cassette 1. [Interview with Ibrahim Farrah] (ca. 61 min.) / recorded in New York City in the mid-1990s. Speaking to an off-camera female interviewer, Ibrahim Farrah discusses his family's roots in Lebanon; growing up in a close-knit Lebanese immigrant community in western Pennsylvania; his early experience of dance as a tradition handed down from one generation to another; founding Arabesque magazine as a means of correcting the paucity of information on Middle Eastern dance; the social and political forces behind the fad for belly dancing in America of the 1970s; American attitudes to the Middle East; stereotypical images of Middle Eastern dance, and the reality behind them; dance and the status of women in the Middle East. The interview appears to be incomplete; at ca. 58 min. into the tape, Farrah, the interviewer, and others off-camera announce a break and converse more informally.
- Cassette 2. [Belly dancing class taught by Ibrahim Farrah] (ca. 63 min.) / recorded at Fazil's Dance Center, New York, N.Y. Parts of the recording use special camera techniques which alter the image and flow of movement; some parts emphasize camera work rather than the documentation of the class.
