Summary
  • This interview with Trisha Brown was recorded during her month-long residency at Jacob's Pillow in 1986. Brown speaks about how her company's touring schedule makes it difficult for her to develop new work; qualities of Jacob's Pillow and the residency program that enable the creation of new work; her experience teaching during the residency; her choreographic process; how lectures about her work and developed into theater pieces. Finally, Brown discusses future plans and the projected development of the piece created during her residency.
  • Liz Thompson, executive director of Jacob's Pillow, discusses her efforts to bring new dance to the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival and to develop the audience for new dance by facilitating communication between choreographers and audiences. Thompson comments on her introduction of residencies for choreographers and the Inside/out performance series.
