Segment one: Eyewitness news, aired Channel 7, exact air date is unknown. It is confirmed that actor Rock Hudson has been diagnosed with AIDS. His diagnosis is bound to increase public concern about the disease now that is has struck someone so famous. Many performers are donating their time in efforts to raise funds to find a cure for AIDS. Joseph Papp has produced Larry Kramer's play about AIDS called The normal heart. Segment includes interview with Papp and performance excerpt.
Segment two: Channel 2 news at 6:00, aired Channel 2, exact air date is unknown. The news that actor Rock Hudson has AIDS is expected to bring more attention to fighting the disease. Health editor Earl Ubell reports on the impact of AIDS on both the gay and non-gay communities and prospects for a cure, including discussion of drugs used to treat the disease.
