Summary
Director Lloyd Richards discusses his career in theater and his various friends and collaborators, including Sidney Poitier, Lorraine Hansberry, and August Wilson, with interviewer Woodie King. The discussion extends from Richards' early days as an actor with the Equity Library Theatre through his switch to directing, his work with Hansberry on the ground-breaking play A raisin in the sun, and his later collaborations with playwright August Wilson. Richards also discusses his work with the Yale Repertory Theatre and his tenure as Dean of the Yale School of Drama, where he has taught for many years.
