  • Side A (ca. 45 min.). Sir John Tooley introduces Lynn Seymour; Seymour describes her first encounter with Rudolf Nureyev in the 1960's; his generosity and willingness to help other dancers; dancing with him in Kenneth MacMillan's Images of love and in La bayadère at the Royal Ballet; Nureyev's rigor and clarity in preparing classical ballets; his nickname for Seymour; his love of and fascination with the English language; his adherence to the original Petipa choreography for his version of La bayadère; his commitment to ballet's classical values; dancing Giselle with Nureyev in the early 1960's; Seymour's and Nureyev's late starts in ballet training and their consequent sympathetic relationship; the effects of Nureyev's encouragement and positive attitude on other dancers; his Romeo and Juliet at the Palais des Sports; his work ethic; his various houses as sensual experiences and resting places rather than homes; his leisure habits; performing with Nureyev in ballets by Glen Tetley, in particular Pierrot lunaire; Seymour's belief that Nureyev did not really succeed as a modern dancer because he could not let go of his classical training; his commitment to new choreographers; his love of and studies in music; filming The sleeping beauty with Nureyev; his kindness in the process; his elitism and admiration of expertise.
