Frederic Franklin speaks about dancers and lack of job security [Joy Brown arrives]; possible reasons for Leonide Massine's lack of success as a choreographer in the U.S.; discussion of the extensive archives of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo; Franklin's lifelong collecting of his clippings and photographs; working with Bart Cook on George Balanchine's ballets La sonnambula [Night shadow] and the Four temperaments; the men's costumes in Night shadow; ballets from the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo's repertory that he would like to see revived; Balanchine's Le bourgeois gentilhomme; speaks briefly about some of Bronislava Nijinska's ballets; selection of the company's repertory in a given season; circumstances of the destruction of a great portion of Sol Hurok's professional records. [Ends abruptly.]

- Interview with Frederic Franklin conducted by Mindy Aloff, Monica Moseley, Nancy Reynolds, and Joy Williams Brown at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts in New York City on Feb. 20, 2001. The interview was recorded for the Frederic Franklin Oral History Project; the Project is a collaboration between the George Balanchine Foundation and the The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.
