Frederic Franklin speaks about dancers and lack of job security [Joy Brown arrives]; possible reasons for Leonide Massine's lack of success as a choreographer in the U.S.; discussion of the extensive archives of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo; Franklin's lifelong collecting of his clippings and photographs; working with Bart Cook on George Balanchine's ballets La sonnambula [Night shadow] and the Four temperaments; the men's costumes in Night shadow; ballets from the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo's repertory that he would like to see revived; Balanchine's Le bourgeois gentilhomme; speaks briefly about some of Bronislava Nijinska's ballets; selection of the company's repertory in a given season; circumstances of the destruction of a great portion of Sol Hurok's professional records. [Ends abruptly.]

The interview was recorded for the Frederic Franklin Oral History Project; the Project is a collaboration between the George Balanchine Foundation and the The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.
