- Cassette 1. [Sarah Stackhouse restaging La Malinche] (ca. 45 min.) / recorded in studio rehearsal, in rehearsal clothes; choreography, José Limón; music, Norman Lloyd; danced by Roxane d'Orleans Juste (La Malinche) and members of the Limón Dance Company. La Malinche, a dance work for three characters (La Malinche, El Indio, and El Conquistador) derives from an episode in Mexican history. This recording is not intended as documentation of the choreography, and the camera sometimes moves away from the dancers or views them in extreme closeup. A runthrough of the piece (with a brief gap after the first 2 min.) begins at ca. 4 min. into the tape.
- [Interview with Sarah Stackhouse] (ca. 12 min.) / topics include: her first classes with Limón at Connecticut College; her classmate Michael Hollander; her impressions of the first Limón works she saw, notably The visitation; attending Limón's repertory classes in New York City; her impressions of Louis Falco when he first joined the company; the creation of Limón's A choreographic offering, in which she was paired with Falco.
- Cassette 2. [Interview with Sarah Stackhouse, continued] (ca. 45 min.) / topics include: working with Limón at the American Dance Festival at Connecticut College in the 1960s; teaching his masterwork The moor's pavane to other dance companies; Limón's concept of his artistic goals; his refusal to be daunted by difficult circumstances; his lack of financial support; the friendship and assistance given him by Martha Hill, Thomas Skelton, and Simon Sadoff; his working relationships with dancers Louis Falco and Jennifer Muller; his shift in choreographic direction after 1963, demonstrated by the works A choreographic offering and The winged; his reluctance to give up performing; his role as advocate for the arts; his undemonstrative nature. Stackhouse also discusses her revival of Limón's Missa brevis for the Limón Dance Company, likening it to Doris Humphrey's Passacaglia and fugue in C minor.
