Summary
Part of the fifth annual Studies Project, an ongoing series of discussions, performances, and other presentations. This program begins with works by three performance artists, Paul Zaloom, David Cale, and Ethyl Eichelberger, followed by a panel discussion. Topics include: their preference for solo performance; selecting topics; their working process; the use of comic voices, accents, and sound effects; Zaloom's use of hand puppets; the issue of comprehensibility; the difficulty of creating new work and finding venues that allow experiment; building a repertory; the risks of topicality in their works; finding fresh approaches.
