Arlene Francis interviews theatrical producer Joseph Papp in his office at the Public Theater. Papp discusses his main influence; his success as a producer; his battle with Parks Commissioner Robert Moses in 1959; his 1982 confrontation with real estate developers intent on demolishing part of New York City's historic theater district; his past achievements; his educational program for New York City schoolchildren; and what he perceives to be a decline of "serious" works currently being produced on Broadway. Includes footage from the 1982 demonstration and the Broadway production The mystery of Edwin Drood.
