Summary

Concert given by French composer, pianist and vocalist Michel Legrand with Stefanianne Christopherson, Laurence Guittard, Dean Pitchford, Maureeen Silliman, Barbara Williams, Sheldon Harnick and Margery Gray. Includes a special appearance by theatrical producer Joseph Papp, who performs the song La musique a Papa at 3 min. into videodisc two. Proceeds from the concert were to benefit the Public Theater building fund.

The New York Shakespeare Festival production of the operetta The umbrellas of Cherbourg, directed by Andrei Serban, composed by Michel Legrand with book by Jaques Demy was in rehearsal at the Public Theater at the time of this concert. The operetta ran at the Public Theater/Martinson Hall from February 1 to March 4, 1979. For performance, see NCOV 101.
