- Biography
- Klytus Smith was born in Harlem in 1940. He began his career as a photographer in 1960 when, as an amateur photojournalist, he started documenting the black pride, black arts and black nationalist movements occurring in Harlem. His work has been used by several publishers, including Harper Collins and Viking; has been published in newspapers, such as the New York Amsterdam News and the Beacon; and has been used in commercial and documentary films. Smith exhibited his work at the International Center for Photography, New York, in 1993.
