- Summary
- Disc 1 (ca. 32 min.). Martha Clarke describes her first experiences in dance and early influences, particularly of Antony Tudor, one of her teachers at the Juilliard School; working with Anna Sokolow; Clarke's resistance to the prevailing devotional atmosphere of traditional modern dance; her first experiences working with Pilobolus [Dance Theatre] and the qualities that she and Alison Chase brought to the company; the social and creative atmosphere of the company at that time.

Clarke speaks about her feelings regarding her own experiences in the company versus her respect for the company's accomplishments; her individual interests outside of the collaborative process; the limitations of the collaborative process as practiced by Pilobolus; her thoughts on the work she has done since leaving the company; the personal challenges of life as a dancer.
