- Edward Harrigan (1844-1911) and Tony Hart (1855-1891) were performers who teamed up in 1871 and starred in a number of stage musicals over the next fourteen years, with material written by Harrigan and composer David Braham (1838-1905). Their work is considered the foundation of American musical comedy.
