- Summary
- Merce Cunningham and M.C. Richards speak informally to senior citizens about their careers, lifestyles and friendship. Cunningham discusses his daily exercise routine; his diet; how he met M.C. Richards; the production of Ocean; his use of Life Forms computer software; touring in the early days of his company. M.C. Richards discusses her current activities and earlier life; her communal living arrangements; her experiences at Black Mountain College; how she met Merce Cunningham. Cunningham speaks about his passion for dance; Richards discusses her concern for the environment and her pottery; she and Cunningham speak about the importance of lifelong learning. In response to questions from the audience, Cunningham discusses his ideas about timing and movement in dance; his use of video to document his choreography; audience reactions to his work; dance for children; his collaboration with John Cage. M.C. Richards reads a poem dedicated to Cage. Cunningham speaks about his pet cats as inspiration for dance movements.
