Summary
In this interview Merce Cunningham discusses the relationship between dance and technology; his work with motion capture animation and Life Forms computer software; his work with film and video; his relationship to Martha Graham; controversies about sound scores accompanying his works; and his use of pedestrian movement. The interview includes video clips of excerpts from Hand-drawn spaces, Variations V, CRWDPSPCR, Antic Meet, Place, Walkaround time, and Ranforest. A question-and-answer session follows the interview. Cunningham discusses his method of collaborating with composers and designers, and how he chooses his dancers.
