Summary

Merce Cunningham and David Vaughan present a discussion of computers in dance and Cunningham's work with computer technology. The presentation includes film clips of excerpts from Story, CRWDSPCR, and BIPED. At the beginning of the program, David Vaughan reads and discusses Cunningham's written statement, Four events that have led to large discoveries, about influences in his creative development. Cunningham discusses his experiences working with Life Forms software and with motion capture on the projects Hand-drawn spaces and BIPED. A question-and-answer session follows the presentation; Cunningham discusses the influences of technology on dance.
