- Summary
- Barbara Walters and Burgess Meredith interview New York Shakespeare Festival producers Joseph Papp and Gerald Freedman for The today show. Program includes in-studio performance excerpts from the Festival's production of Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus featuring Olympia Dukakis, Raul Julia, Moses Gunn and David Birney. Papp discusses his idea to bring the plays of Shakespeare to the public for free in Central Park; how his project is financed; and how taking part in his program enables young actors start their stage careers. Freedman discusses the production and the Festival's goal of producing lesser known works of Shakespeare.
