Host, Marian Horosko introduces her guest, Carola Goya, and the topic: the history of castanets; Goya speaks about what constitutes castanets; Matteo's research; the origins and development of castanets in ancient Egypt; the different materials used; a pair versus a set of castanets; how castanets are held; the use of castanets at funerals in Spain; the bones used in minstrel shows as a type of castanet; certain aspects of playing the castanets [short gap for omitted recording of Goya playing the castanets]; interview is concluded.

Interview with Carola Goya conducted by Marian Horosko on May 21, 1968, for broadcast by radio station WNYC-FM, NY on its series The world of dance, regarding castanets. Reference is made to the March, 1968 issue of Dance perspectives, entitled The history of the castanets, a monograph by Matteo. This issue is in the Library's collection and is cataloged as *MGZA Dance perspectives, 33. The recording also includes an interview with Doris [Lures?], public relations director for the New York City Ballet, conducted by Alvin H. Reiss.
