- Summary
- Tracks 1-10 1967 (ca. 9 min). Marian Horosko introduces Martha Graham; Graham speaks about discipline as a central principle, at her school and in life; her preference that her students' previous training be in ballet; viewing movement and clothing in their social context, with reference to a modern dance performance in Indonesia as an example [ends abruptly].
- Tracks 11-28, 1966 (ca. 18 min.). [The following is a summary of the recording played by Horosko of Graham's speech before the Association of American Dance Companies.] Graham speaks about the recognition of the significance of dance in the U.S.; her thoughts regarding a concert at which Andrés Segovia played; reminisces about the persistence required to get paid for dancing in years past; the glory and arrogance one feels as a dancer; anecdotes regarding legislative and other opposition to funding of the arts; her dependence on her audiences; her anger with a critic who stated that there was no place for tragedy in dance; obtaining financial support.

- Interview with Martha Graham conducted by Marian Horosko, on Oct. 4, 1967, and the playing by Horosko of a recording of a speech Martha Graham gave at the first meeting of the Association of American Dance Companies at the Warwick Hotel in New York City in 1966. At least part of this speech is separately cataloged in the Library's collection as *MGZT 5-29.
