- Summary
- Poems, plays, riddles, and other writings by Mary Magdelene Russell, mostly written when she was in her teens. Many of the poems are odes to relatives, neighbors, and friends, in particular one identified only as Celia; "Friendship" and "Happiness" are also favorite themes. The majority of these writings are undated, but appear to be mainly from the late 1770s.

- Mary Magdelene Russell was born ca. 1760, probably in Tottenham, Middlesex, England, to Richard Russell and Mary Magdalene Alavoine. She married ca. 1780; her married name was apparently Buckworth.
