Summary
In his introduction to this program, John Clauser speaks about the relationship of the arts to contemporary society and the rise of a global monoculture. The pieces performed in the program were developed by participants during the Acciones conference, and relate to the interaction between Latin American and U.S. cultures and societies, and the position of minority artists. Memorial America Latina is an installation/performance piece commemorating those killed or "disappeared" in Latin American conflicts. Discs 4-6 contain video pieces incorporated in performance pieces by Guadalupe Garcia and Danny Torres, and footage of the installation pieces Day of the dead offering and Memoria America Latina. Disc 6 also contains 96 min. of footage taped from Spanish-language television programs.
