Summary
Excerpts from the opera X: the life and time of Malcolm X are interspersed with comments by the creators of the opera and the director and performers. The three family members who created the opera discuss its origins and development; the singers comment on their roles; Thulani Davis reads an excerpt from the Autobiography of Malcolm X and speaks about her libretto. Excerpts performed include Louise's aria from act 1; Malcolm's prison aria from act 1, and Malcolm's conversion scene.
