- Chuck Davis discusses attending Dance for the Planet, inTexas, as the guest of honor; his early experiences with social dance; meeting and taking class with Geoffrey Holder; other teachers and class experiences; dancing with Babatunde Olatunji and his experiences at the 1964 World's fair; studying with Syvilla Fort; more on his experiences with Olatunji; forming the Chuck Davis Dance Company; attending the Carifesta in Guyana and the American Dance Festival in North Carolina; becoming involved in the Arts in Education program; his first trip to Africa; subsequent experiences travelling to different parts of Africa; forming the African American Dance Ensemble and moving back to North Carolina; the beginnings of the Dance Africa festival and its current status.
