Summary
Examines effect of war on household access to food in conflict situations in Kasese and Kitgum districts, as compared with conflict free Mbarara and Bugiri districts in Uganda. The study sought to find the magnitude of the effects of armed conflict on women's ability to ensure household food security; find the effect of changes in household structure due to armed conflict; find non-armed conflict causes of household food insecurity and how these are manifest in conflict and non-conflict prone districts; identify women's coping mechanisms with the environment created by armed conflicts in general, and with reference to ensuring household food security in particular; make feasible recommendations for sustainable farm production, household food security, and conflict resolution.
