- Summary
- Garth Fagan is interviewed onstage about his choreographic style and influences; the qualities he looks for in dancers; the origin and development of Griot New York and Mozhops Mall, which used movement adapted from Griot New York set to Mozart horn concertos. Excerpts from Mozhops Mall are performed by students of the Juilliard School Dance Division. Fagan discusses his views on the relationship between music and dance, and dancer Natalie Rogers performs a solo from Griot New York first to music of Mozart and then to music of Wynton Marsalis. Fagan discusses his work with music of Brahms, Dvorak and Marsalis. Members of Garth Fagan Dance perform excerpts from Griot New York.
