[Begins abruptly.] Klarna Pinska speaks about Ruth St. Denis, including her tendency to spend freely; the improvisational nature of her dancing; her impressions upon first seeing St. Denis dance; her first meeting with St. Denis, in Winnipeg, and her attempt to join St. Denis's company; her move to San Francisco and her various jobs there; meeting St. Denis again; Pinska's move to Los Angeles to study at the Denishawn School; how she came to study, work, and live at Denishawn, including her audition; Pearl Wheeler, including various costumes she designed; the costliness of the materials of the Denishawn Dancers' costumes; more on St. Denis's dancing and personality; Pinska's feelings of gratitude toward St. Denis [gap; resumes in the middle of an anecdote about Ted Shawn and male dancers in the role of angels]; working with St. Denis on her dance Salome; performing in St. Denis's and Doris Humphrey's work Sonata pathétique; Humphrey as a teacher; Martha Graham, including as a teacher; Shawn and the franchising of the Denishawn name; the dancer Anne Douglas; the lack of talent of certain Denishawn dancers.
