Summary
This lecture-recital presents Flamenco Natyam, a collaboration between Rajika Puri and La Conja exploring similarities between Flamenco and the dance and music of south India, based on the Indian origins of Spanish gypsies. The program includes solo performances of Flamenco and Bharatanatyam (Indian temple dance) and collaborative performances, as well as discussions by the dancers of the rhythms and stylings of the two dance forms, and demonstrations of Flamenco and Raga singing. Pani, a suite for sitar and guitar composed by Pedro Cortes and co-choreographed by Puri and La Conja is discussed and performed.
