Summary
Isabelle Stevenson, president of the American Theatre Wing, speaks with interviewer Michall Jeffers. Stevenson discusses the various programs operated by the American Theatre Wing, which administers the Tony Awards. These include the presentation of live professional theatrical productions in hospitals and in public schools, its Working in the Theatre Seminars, and scholarships and grants for not-for-profit theatrical organizations in New York City. Stevenson also discusses the origin of the Tony Awards, its voting process, and the possible eligibility of Off-Broadway theatrical productions and Broadway replacement actors for awards in the future.
