- Biography
- Pianist, composer, and painter, Nathaniel Robin (1897-1987), was the brother of noted songwriter, Leo Robin. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he studied music at the Carnegie Institute of Technology and also was a private student of Ernest Bloch and Arnold Schoenberg. Except for a period in the 1930s when he lived in California, Robin resided in New York at the Gorham Hotel and worked on his music and painting in a studio he maintained at Carnegie Hall. In addition to his work as a painter, Robin created a series of woodblock prints of eminent musicians, mainly composers.
