- Summary
- Director John Doyle is interviewed about his career in the theater and his recent projects by Jack Cummings III, artistic director of the Transport Group. He discusses his days as a stage manager and his early directorial work in his native Scotland and in England. Much of the subsequent discussion covers his production of Stephen Sondheim's shows SweeneyTodd and Company, in which the actors play their own instruments. Doyle is joined by performer Manoel Felciano, from the cast of the 2006 Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd, and Mary-Mitchell Campbell, the orchestrator of his revival of Company. During the question and answer session Doyle outlines his approach to the Jerry Herman musical Mack & Mabel, currently in London.
