• John Britton, English antiquarian and topographer. Often with his friend Edward Wedlake Brayley, he produced many works on British topography and antiquities, including: The Beauties of England and Wales (1800) ; Architectural Antiquities of Great Britain (1807-1814) ; and the Dictionary of the Architecture and Archaeology of the Middle Ages (1831-8).
