- "On June 5, 2005, the winners of the Twelfth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition were announced by Van Cliburn during the Awards Ceremony at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, Texas. Seventeen days of thrilling music making, which started with thirty-five of the world's most promising musicians, culminated with the top three prizes going to Alexander Kobrin, 25, of Russia (Gold Medal); Joyce yang, 19, of South Korea (Silver Medal); and Sa Chen, 25, of China (Crystal Award). The finalists were Davide Cabassi, 28, of Italy; Chu-fang Huang, 22, of China; and Roberto Plano, 26, of Italy"--Program notes.
