- Summary
- To coincide with the United Nations Decade for Women Conference in Nairobi, 1985, there was a conference of representatives of NGO's to discuss the issue of peace and what it meant to women in different parts of the world. They gathered to exchange experiences, to consider the progress that had been made and to think about plans for the future. 6,000 were expected and 14,000 came for the forum alone. As opposed to the delegates to the official U.N. Conference, the official delegates were dependent on their governments, while the NGO's were not.
