- Summary
- This program includes a panel discussion of Philip Glass' Symphony no. 5, interspersed with performances from the choral symphonic work, which is set to a variety of traditional and religious texts from across the world. The panelists discuss the symphony's 12-part structure, the process of selecting sources, and the texts eventually used in the work, including passages from Genesis and the Koran, Hawaiian and Zuni sacred texts, and Japanese haiku. In addition to live performances from the symphony, selections from Magyar Rádió és Televízió Gyermekkórusa's recording of the work are played.
