Summary
Views of college professor Sidney J. Phillips who won national acclaim for his efforts in promoting bills in Congress that led to the minting of the Booker T. Washington half dollar, the Booker T. Washington - George Washington Carver half dollars and the issuing of stamps honoring Carver and Washington. Collection contains candid shots of Phillips participating in a Carver-Washington half dollar release ceremony and in a memorial fund-raising picnic. Phillips is also pictured with Edith Sampson at the Virginia Teachers Convention.
