Summary
This program includes a conversation with American Ballet Theatre Studio Company artistic director John Meehan, interspersed with dance performances by Studio Company dancers as well as ABT soloists and corps dancers who are past students of the company. Meehan discusses the auditions and summer programs from which Studio Company members are selected each year, the eight-month program of study, performance, community outreach, university residency, and ABT apprenticeship the members experience, the rate at which ABT draws from the Studio Company ranks, and the program's goal of also providing opportunities for young choreographers to create original work on the dancers. One such new piece, Six to a bunch, is presented during the program.
