This program includes a panel discussion preceded and followed by performances of Charles Wuorinen's The great procession and The river of light, two musical pieces inspired by Dante's The divine comedy. The panelists discuss the music's genesis as both a response to Dante and as choreographic accompaniment, the complex palindromic structure of The great procession, and Wuorinen's system of musical notation.
