- Summary
- This program includes a panel discussion with Australian poet Les Murray and several composers who wrote musical settings to his work. Performances of the settings and readings by the poet are interspersed with the discussion. Murray talks about the use of animals and their sounds in his work, the influence of the Australian landscape, and his process, which begins with the poem's rhythmic principle. The composers discuss their setting techniques in terms of rhythm, pitch, and vocal line, and also explain the elements that attracted them to Murray's poetry.
