Summary
This program features a panel discussion of The pied piper, a new work for American Ballet Theatre choreographed by David Parsons, and set to music by John Corigliano. Excerpts from the ballet open and close the program. Corigliano discusses his commission to create the music for flutist James Galway, and his mix of conventional and unconventional musical composition and notation in the work. A recorded selection is played to illustrate his comments. Parsons discusses the complexity of choreographing to Corigliano's music and the use of puppetry and digital projection in the ballet.
