- Summary
- This program is a tribute to the work of American poet Richard Wilbur. The speakers each read one or more of Wilbur's poems, and each provide personal commentary about the poet. Wilbur then makes his own remarks and reads a number of his poems, predominantly from his 2000 book Mayflies. He closes with readings of two circa-1950s poems, An event and Advice to a prophet, and his most recently published poem, The reader.

The Oct. 15, 2001 program, held at Columbia University's Miller Theatre, focused on Wilbur's theater work, particularly his translations of plays by Racine and Molière.
