Summary
This program contains excerpts from Decouflé's film work, including filmed segments of multimedia performances as well as stand-alone experimental films and television commercials. The films Caramba, Codex, and Le P'tit Bal are among those excerpted. Decouflé discusses such influences as Hollywood musicals and the works of early 20th-century cinema pioneer Georges Méliès, and his collaboration with commercial artist and director Jean-Paul Goude. The program also includes two short Méliès films.

  • Philippe Decouflé is a French choreographer and dancer whose work has often incorporated or been exclusively based in film or video. He also staged the opening and closing ceremonies for the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France. This program was presented as part of France Move, a 2001 citywide festival celebrating French Dance.
